Khandaker Mashiuzzaman’s (Romel) membership has been canceled from the capital’s Banani Club for non-payment of dues. The decision was taken in the 79th executive committee meeting of the club.
According to 41(F) section of the Article of Association of the club, his membership has been canceled, said in a press release of Banani Club.
“The current Dhaka Club president Khandaker Mashiuzzaman Romel, got permanent membership of Banani Club in 2017 without any down payment. At that time, the prescribed fee for membership was Tk 20 lakh,” source said.
When he was sent a letter informing him about the matter, he paid Tk 15 lakh in three installments in 2019 and 2020. But the club still owed him Tk 5 lakh.
But currently the membership fee of the club has reached Tk 50 lakh. In such a situation, the matter was discussed in the executive committee meeting on Tuesday.
Later, the committee decided to cancel his membership. The amount which was paid for membership has already returned to Moshiuzzaman, concerned persons added.
