Martyr Intellectuals Day was observed at Rabindra University with due dignity on Sunday, December 14, 2025. On the occasion of Martyr Intellectuals Day, Rabindra University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hasan Talukder placed a wreath at the Shahid Minar of the temporary academic building-3 of Rabindra University. After placing the wreath, a minute of silence was observed to pay tribute to the memory of the martyred intellectuals. In a brief speech highlighting the significance of the day, Rabindra University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S. M. Hasan Talukder said, “In 1971, the defeated forces in the Liberation War systematically killed many intellectuals including teachers, journalists, and doctors, which is an irreparable loss for this country. It is the sacred duty of all citizens of Bangladesh to cherish and show respect for the martyred intellectuals.
On this occasion, Rabindra University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Suman Kanti Barua, Treasurer Professor Dr. Firoz Ahmed, Proctor (Acting) Nazrul Islam, chairmen of all departments, members of the proctorial body, teachers, students, officers and employees were present. Also, at 6:30 pm, candles will be lit to pay tribute to the memory of the martyrs at Academic Building-3 of Rabindra University.
