Bashundhara Kings earned a 2-0 victory over defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangladesh Football League (BFL) match at the Kings Arena on Friday.
The victory took the five-time champions to 16 points from six matches, five clear of second-placed Fortis FC. Mohammedan, meanwhile, remained in fourth with seven points.
In the day’s match, Nigerian forward Onyekachi Okafo scored a late goal in the dying moment as Fortis Football Club registered their third win in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL) beating Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by a solitary goal held at Birshrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
After the stipulated 90 minutes, Onyekachi Okafo finally broke the deadlock scoring the all important goal for Fortis in the 90+3rd minute of the match.
With this day’s victory, Fortis moved up second position in the league table with 11 points from six matches while the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj, who stood third position in the league table, remained at their previous collection of 10 points playing the same number of outings.
In the remaining sixth round matches to be held tomorrow [Saturday], Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club will play against Abahani Limited Dhaka at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj district while PWD Sports Club face Bangladesh Police Football Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur district.
In the other match, Kazi Rahad Mia scored both the goals for Arambagh in the 32nd and 45+2nd minutes respectively. After the breather, Brothers Union Club, however, tried their best to stage a fight back in the match but they could not score any goals in the remaining proceeding.
The day’s win saw, bottom-ranked of the table Arambagh secured four points from six matches while the all-orange Gopibagh outfit, who stood fifth position in the league table, remained with their previous collection of seven points playing the same number of matches.
