City Desk :

A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activist has been beaten to death in Bhola while travelling to Dhaka to join an event organised to mark the return of BNP leader Tarique Rahman, police said.
Zia Uddin, chief of Ilisha Police Investigation Centre in Bhola Sadar, said the killing took place on Wednesday evening in Sadar Upazila.

The victim, Rezwan Amin Sifat, 25, was an aspirant for the post of union president of Chhatra Dal, the BNP’s student wing.

Quoting the family, police said Rezwan left home around 6pm for Dhaka, when he was assaulted by armed attackers.
Hearing his screams, relatives rushed to the spot, prompting the attackers to flee, reports bdnews24.com.

Rezwan was taken to Bhola Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
His father Alauddin Hawladar alleged that the attack on his son was premeditated, and executed by members of the Awami League.
“They have been oppressing our family for the last 17 years, and today my son has lost his life. I demand justice for this killing,” he added.
Junaid Hossain, an emergency department physician at the 250-bed Bhola General Hospital, said a man covered in blood was brought to the emergency unit around 7pm and declared dead after examination.
“He had multiple injuries on different parts of his body. We’re assuming he died from excessive bleeding,” the doctor said.
Police said they visited the hospital after receiving information and will take legal action if the family files a case. Efforts to arrest those involved are under way.
