Jamaat Ameer submits nomination papers

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has submitted his nomination papers to contest from the Dhaka-15 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
A three-member team on behalf of the Jamaat Ameer submitted the nomination papers to Dhaka Regional Election Officer Md. Yunus Ali at the office of the Returning Officer,at the Election Training Institute in Agargaon, in the capital on Monday.
Although Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is a resident of Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district, he will contest the election from the Dhaka-15 constituency this time.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is today (Monday) at 5:00 pm.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin announced the schedule for the 13th National Parliamentary Election through a televised address to the nation on 11 December.
Subsequently, on 18 December, the Election Commission issued a revised gazette notification related to the schedule.
In the revised schedule, the time for filing appeals against the decisions of returning officers in nomination scrutiny was reduced by two days, while the time for disposing of appeals was extended by two days.
According to the revised schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from 30 December to 4 January 2026.
Appeals against the decisions of returning officers may be filed between 5 January and 9 January, and appeals will be disposed of between 10 and 18 January. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is 20 January.
The Returning Officer will publish the final list of candidates and allocate election symbols on 21 January.
Election campaigning will begin on 22 January and may continue until 7:30 am on 10 February. Voting will be held on 12 February.
