Hashem Foods Limited in Rupganj, Narayanganj has been fined Tk 2 lakh by the Department of Environment for causing environmental pollution. The operation was carried out on Sunday (7 December) under the supervision of Executive Magistrate Muhammad Marzanur Rahman, with support from Rupganj Police Station and officials from the Narayanganj District Office of the Department of Environment. Inspector Md. Hujjatul Islam of the Department of Environment led the prosecution during the operation. A.H.M. Rashed, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment in Narayanganj, stated that Hashem Foods Limited was fined and the amount collected in accordance with Section 15(2) of the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, 1995 for violating Section 7(3) of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2021. He further added that similar operations against pollution-causing factories and projects in Narayanganj will continue.
