Today is the birthday of noted actor, director and producer Alamgir. This year he was awarded the Swadhinata Padak (Independence Award). As an actor, the journey of his acting began with acting in dramas
during his college life, but
originally on June 24, 1972, he stood in front of the camera for the first time to act in the movie ‘Amar Jonmobhumi’ directed
by late veteran director
Alamgir Kumkum.
Before the release of this movie in the middle of 1973, Alamgir started working in Sirajul Islam’s movie ‘Dasyurani’ (1974), Azizur Rahman’s ‘Otithi’, Alamgir Kumkum’s ‘Momota’ and Mohor Chand’s movie ‘Hira’. He has been acting since then.
Alamgir recently acted in his own directed movie titled ‘Ekti Cinemar Golpo’. In 1975, he acted in the movie ‘Chashir Meye’ opposite Shabana and ‘Love in Shimla’ opposite Kabori. In 1978, he acted in the movie ‘Zinjir’ with established heroes Razzak and Sohel Rana and Alamgir became more known to the movie lovers of this country.
In 1975, Alamgir was first recognised at the national level. He won the first National Film Award in the Best Actor category by playing the role of Dipok Chowdhury in the movie ‘Ma O Chhele’ directed by Kamal Ahmed.
He also made his directorial debut with the movie ‘Nishpaap’ in 1985, the year he won the first National Film Award.
Alamgir was a successful actor in all kinds of movies including family tension, social and romantic actions, and folk fantasy. In addition to acting, he has also gained fame as a producer-director, singer and presenter.
Alamgir has won the National Film Award for Best Actor and Best Side Actor in the Actor category many times.
He has been awarded this award for the highest number of heroes of Bangladesh.
In addition, he is a lifetime honoree at the National Film Award along with other awards on December 8, 2019. He has produced the latest movie ‘Ekti Cinemar Golpo’ as a director.
Alamgir was born at Dhaka Medical College on April 3 in 1950. He spent his childhood and youth in Tejgaon area. His first produced movie is ‘Jhumka’.
Once he learned music from Syed Abdul Hadi, a well-to-do in Green Road of the capital.
He made his first playback in Mostafa Mehmud’s movie ‘Monihar’ with the lyrics written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar and music was composed by Satya Saha.
On the other hand, in 1989, Rokeya Prachy started her acting career by joining Aranyak Natyadal. Then in 1997, she started working on the TV screen by acting in the drama ‘Joy Porajoy’ on Bangladesh Television.
With acting on the small screen, Rokeya Prachy is also popular in the movies. In the 90s, she made her debut in cinema with the movie ‘Dukhai’ directed by Morshedul Islam.
In the first movie of her career, in 1998, she won the National Film Award for Best Actress.
After that, Rokeya Prachy acted in the movie ‘Matir Moyna’ directed by Tarek Masud and took Bangladeshi cinema to the honorable place of world cinema.
She was the first Bangladeshi actress to participate in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival as an invited guest.
