Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday alleged that Inqilab Mancha leader Osman Hadi was killed for speaking out against India’s hegemony over Bangladesh.
He said, “Those who speak out against India’s hegemony are being deliberately killed. This wave of killings began with the martyrdom of Shaheed Amir-e-Jamaat Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. Osman Hadi is the latest victim in this ongoing series.”
He made these remarks on Saturday (20 December) afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and prayer event organized at the open municipal stage in Ullapara Upazila, Sirajganj, for the forgiveness of the late Sharif Osman Hadi (may he rest in peace).
Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan said, “We have lost a patriotic and courageous son of the time. It is because of the sacrifices and contributions of people like him that Bangladesh is now free from tyranny, and we are able to speak freely. Every drop of Osman Hadi’s blood will further ignite the fire of hatred against India’s hegemony. Those responsible for this brutal killing must be brought to justice immediately and given exemplary punishment.”
He added, “Those who today hold state positions or advisory roles have reached there because of movements led by people like Hadi. It is the state’s responsibility to ensure the safety of those who risk their lives to fight against fascism. But today, the state has failed to fulfill that responsibility. How many more revolutionary sons like Osman Hadi will we lose-this is the question facing the nation today.”
After the discussion, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan offered prayers for the forgiveness of Osman Hadi’s soul.
The event was presided over by Professor Shahjahan Ali, Amir of the Upazila Jamaat and former Upazila Vice Chairman, and was conducted by Upazila Jamaat Office Secretary Maulana Abdul Bari.
Special guests at the event included Dr. Nazrul Islam, Naib Amir of Upazila Jamaat; Khairul Islam, General Secretary of Upazila Jamaat; Alaudin Al Azad, former Secretary; Ashraful Alam (Muttalib), Upazila Publicity and Media Secretary; Abdulk Karim, Amir of the municipal Jamaat; Babul Akand, President of Upazila Workers’ Welfare Federation; and Ataur Rahman, President of Jamaat Youth Division, along with other local and party leaders.
