The overall number of global Covid-19 cases is gradually nearing 628 million.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 627,677,595 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,563,773 on Wednesday morning.
The US has recorded 98,608,431 cases so far, while 1,088,471 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India’s daily Covid-19 caseload Tuesday decreased to 1,957, officials said.
According to federal health ministry data released on Tuesday morning, 1,957 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,616,394 in the country.
The country also logged eight Covid-related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,822 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, South Korea reported 30,535 new Covid cases as of midnight Tuesday, raising the total number of infections to 25,025,749, health authorities said Wednesday.
Besides, 15 more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 28,723.
