First pickpocket incident on Metro Rail

A suspected pickpocket has apprehended on the metro rail around noon on Thursday (June 13) during a trip from Motijheel to Uttara, as reported by passengers. The suspect was detained by passengers and handed over to security personnel at Karwanbazar station. Subsequently, the individual was turned over to Tejgaon police for further investigation.

This incident marks the first reported case of pickpocketing on the metro rail since its inauguration. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail services on December 28, 2022. The metro currently operates on the Uttara-Motijheel route, running daily from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm and stopping at all 16 stations.
