Fire guts 14 houses in Shahrasti, 10 including 3 firefighters injured

A total of 14 houses were gutted by a devastating fire, that originated from electric short circuit in the dwelling house of A. Aziz Mintu at Boro Bari in Waruk Alipur village under Shahrasti Upazila on Sunday noon. At that time, Mintu, a peasant, was engaged in the crop field while his wife along with children was outside home. So, the fire spread around rapidly engulfing one house after another at 11.35 am. Within a short time, the dwelling houses, made by CI Sheet tins, were burnt to ashes in front of the helpless owners-said with tears Nurul Amin-an expat,, Aziz, Belayet Hossain, A Malek, A Khalek, Rashida Khatun, Rafiqul Islam and others.
On getting information, Fire fighters team from Shahrasti Civil Defence and Fire Station led by their leader Abu Hasan Khan rushed to the spot and doused the inferno/flames after frantic efforts for long three hours and 20 minutes.
Expat Nurul Alam, with sobs and tears said, his gift items brought from Malaysia for his kith and kin were also burnt to ashes.
The fire injured was treated in the nearby clinics and the injured fire fighters received treatment at the local Upazila Health Complex.
On information, local MP Major (Rtd) Rafiqul Islam visited the spot later and consoled the affected families. He assured them about giving govt helps and aids.
