FBCCI to promote smart economy: Dr. Joshoda

Dr. Joshoda Jibon Debnath is one of the newly elected vice-presidents of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

He is a creative entrepreneur of the country who first initiated manufacturing automated teller machine (ATM) in Bangladesh at his company Techno Media Ltd.

Dr. Joshoda is the Managing Director of the company.

He is also a Director of Bengal Commerce Bank Ltd.

After electing the Vice-President, Dr. Joshoda said the newly elected committee of the FBCCI under its new President Mahbubul Alam, is trying to make Bangladesh a more business friendly country through using smart technologies.

“As the apex trade organisation of the country the FBCCI will do everything for creating positive and easier environment for doing business in Bangladesh,” he said.

“We want to gift Bangladesh a smart economy as a main goal for FBCCI. Providing the ICT sector and all businesses with smart and digital technology for more efficiency are to be ensured.

The FBCCI will work with honesty for making a business friendly Bangladesh by all of its efforts,” Dr. Joshoda said.

The FBCCI Vice-President said, the main platform of the business people of the country will try to break all barriers to doing business here.

“The FBCCI will build connectivity with different district chambers and business associations to bring speed in business environment all over the country,” he said.

“One of the efforts of the FBCCI will be to set up one stop services in different ministries aiming to make business easier in the country,” Dr. Joshoda said.

In an interview with The New Nation on Friday, Dr. Joshoda Jibon Debnath talked about the goals of the newly elected committee of the FBCCI at a glance.

Dr. Joshoda said the country has vast opportunities to bring about a positive change in economy using digital technologies like information and communication technology (ICT) and such others.

“The ICT based fourth industrial revolution is calling us to build new smart economy in the country.

We must have to catch the opportunity.

The FBCCI is eagerly working to realise the opportunity and spread this among the business people and the future generation across the country,” Dr. Joshoda said.

He said that as the main platform of the business people of the country the FBCCI have to play a vital role in removing all existing barriers to doing business.

The FBCCI will make a bridge among the government, policy makers and the businesses, to understand the issues which will be addressed on the big journey to turn Bangladesh into a business friendly country, he added.

He said that we have a lot of obstacles on the way of startups.

People who are already involved in business or the new generation who are trying to be an entrepreneur are frequently alleged about many barriers.

All of those have to be eliminated as soon as possible for making Bangladesh an investment friendly country.

Apart from these, the FBCCI Vice-President also gives light on his own company’s initiatives of enhancing digital financing system with ATM cards in the country.

He said that his company has set target to help making the country’s financial system smarter.

He said that his company’s initiatives also help to transform the country’s economy into the smart one.

Dr. Joshoda Debnath said that it’s the first time in the country that two types of machines will be manufactured at his factories. One of those is ATM machine and another is Cash Recycler Machine (CRM).

The initiatives of such higher technology based production unit have been started at the initiatives of Dr. Joshoda Jibon Debnath.

The government has allotted one acre of land to Dr. Joshoda Jibon Debnath’s compamy in Bangabandhu Hi-tech City in Kaliakoir of Gazipur.

While asking about different festival based economy in Bangladesh, Dr. Joshoda said, ATM cards contribute widely to festivals like Eid and pujas.
