BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) from Kashimpur Jail on Saturday for better treatment following a High Court order. Nasir Uddin, a guard of prison-2 of Kashimpur jail, said Fakhrul was sent to BSMMU around 10:30 am. The BNP leader has been suffering from various health complications, including diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiac problem. Earlier on June 12, the High Court ordered the authorities to admit the BNP leader to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for better treatment. Fakhrul, an accused in various cases, including the ones for subversive activities, was arrested on January 6 in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital. — Gazipur, June 13 (UNB)
