The leaders of Sylhet Coal Importers Group and Sylhet District Stone Importers Group visited the land port as the closed coal and stone import-export between Bangladesh and India resumed through Sheola land port in Biyanibazar Sylhet on Monday.
Sylhet Coal Importers Group and Sylhet Zilla Pathar Importers Group organized the exchange meeting presided over by General Secretary of Coal Importers Group and President of Sylhet District Stone Importers Group Atik Hossain and conducted by Finance Secretary of Importers Group Joydev Chakraborty.
The speakers in the meeting thanked the governments and businessmen of both countries for starting this import-export in coordination with the governments and businessmen of the two countries. They called upon the interim government to take necessary measures to promote mutual trade by maintaining a business-friendly environment between the two countries.
They said that if import and export are stopped, not only the businessmen of both countries, but also the Bangladesh government will be deprived of a huge amount of revenue. Not only that, if the import-export is stopped, the workers associated with it become unemployed.
The businessmen also said in the meeting that there is no political difference among our businessmen. We have only one identity, we are traders. We are always conducting business together for the development of the country through business. Speakers in the meeting also said that due to the entry of coal and stone trucks into the country and the export of goods from Bangladesh to India, there has been excitement among traders and workers. Local traders welcome the coal trucks. This has brought back the business environment at the border.
