Fulgazi upazila leaders of the All-Party Committee to Prevent Indian Aggression have demanded the construction of a dam on an urgent basis at Ballamod Bhagana of the Muhuri River in their own Kalikapur area of Parshuram Upazila of Feni. A meeting of the Indian Anti-Aggression Committee was held in the afternoon of January 9 at a community center at Fulghazi Bazar Sreepur Road under the joint chairmanship of Kazi Ekram Ullah Sablu and Adv. Hanif Majumder Babu. In the meeting, the convenor of Progressive Citizen Feni Ghiyas Uddin Bhuiyan, general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal JSD Feni District Branch Adv. Shamsuddin Majumdar Chachchu, Member Secretary of All Party Committee to Prevent Indian Aggression discussed in detail about Indian invasion and contemporary politics and the context and damage of recent floods and what to do. Advocate Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury Morshed, anti-discrimination student Feni coordinator of the movement and joint member secretary of the Indian Anti-Aggression Committee Omar Farooq, Adv. Imamuddin, prominent social worker and businessman Abdul Khalek and Qazi Milan, among others, also spok.
The speakers in the meeting demanded the construction of a dam on Nijkalikapur Muhuri river in Feni district which was broken by flood recently to protect Feni from floods. The speakers said that if this river is not stopped soon, if it rains above, different areas of Feni district may be flooded at any time. The speakers demanded the government to immediately block the breached areas of Muhuri river. They strongly protested the cancelation of the Feni River agreement with India, India’s blocking of water and disruption of agriculture by blocking various pastures upstream of Feni.
