Cattle-lifters held with 7 stolen cows

Bakerganj police of Barishal district have arrested three members of a gang of cattle-lifters along with seven stolen cows. The arrested are – Harun Chowkidar (35) of Ward number 7 of Bakerganj municipality, Mohammad Hossain Howladar (45) of Sobhakathi area of Rangashree Union of Bakerganj Upazila and Milan Shikder (55)Bara Puiyauta area of Padrishibpur Union of the upazila.
On the basis of secret information, raids were conducted in various areas under Bakerganj police station on Wednesday night and early Thursday and those members of the gang were arrested and seven stolen cows have also been recovered from them.
Afzal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakerganj Police Station, said that the arrested persons were sent to jail through the court on Thursday (March 14) afternoon.
He said that the owner of one of the recovered cows, Bajlu Talukdar, a resident of Sundarkathi village of Dudhal Union of Bakerganj, has filed a case as the plaintiff. Besides, the owner of another identified cow has also prepared to file a case.
He said that the arrested have been involved in cattle lifting for a long time. There are several cases of cattle-lifting against them in various police stations including Bakerganj.
