CA orders arrest of Hadi murder suspects

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday directed law enforcement agencies to promptly apprehend those responsible for the killing of Osman Hadi, along with others involved in unlawful activities, and to ensure the country’s law and order situation remains stable ahead of the upcoming national election.
“Maintaining normal law and order before the national election is mandatory under all circumstances,” he said.
The directive came during a law and order review meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka, according to a statement issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Monday.
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, and senior officials from various law enforcement
and security agencies attended the meeting.
Discussions during the meeting focused on several critical issues, including security arrangements surrounding the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, preparations for Christmas and English New Year celebrations, and overall security planning.
The meeting also assessed progress in the investigation and arrests related to the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and July movement activist Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
Police officials informed the Chief Adviser that video footage analysis has led to the identification of 31 suspects linked to recent attacks on the offices of two national daily newspapers and two cultural organizations.
Law enforcement agencies reported that, as of Monday morning, at least nine individuals have been arrested through raids conducted in Dhaka and other parts of the country in connection with the attacks.
The identities of seven arrestees were immediately confirmed as Md Kashem Faruqi, Md Saidur Rahman, Rakib Hossain, Md Naim, Faisal Ahmed Pranta, Md Sohel Rana, and Md Shafikul Islam. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the identities of two individuals detained by the Counter Terrorism Unit and Intelligence Police are currently under verification.
Additionally, authorities have identified three individuals involved in attempts to create unrest near the residence of the Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram by analyzing video evidence.
