Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead two youths named Ashiqur (19) and Moshaid (22) at the Companiganj border in Sylhet.
The killing took place at around 12 noon on Friday (December 19) at the Damdama border in Uttar Ranikhai Union of the upazila.
The two victims of the killing are Ashiqur (19) son of Buran Uddin of PurbaTurung village on the Damdama border and Moshaid (22) son of the deceased Rob Mia of the same village.
According to BGB and police sources, Ashiqur died when he was shot by an Indian Khasia while he was going to bring wood to a place called Parihat, 600 yards inside India from the 2nd sub-pillar of the 1260 main pillar of Damdama. Later, his relatives rescued him. The body of the deceased has been kept at the CompaniganjUpazila Health Complex.
At the same time, BSF shot dead Moshaid (22) in Radne area of India near the Damdama border with India.
Sources said that the body of the deceased Moshaid is in the custody of BSF at Toka camp in India. The BSF at that camp called the BGB on the mobile phone and told them, ‘One of your men has died.’
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Companiganj police station in Sylhet, Shafiqul Islam, quoted BGB as saying that two Bangladeshi youths were killed in firing by BSF and Khasia across the border.
Among the deceased, the body of Ashiqur was brought to Bangladesh by his companions. His body is at the Upazila Health Complex. The body of the other is in India. The BGB is in talks with the BSF to bring the body.
