BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said that the people of the country have understood clearly that this government would not hold any election in a free and inclusive manner.

“Any free fair, inclusive and acceptable election is impossible until this Awami League government are not ousted from power. The people of the country and the foreigners have understood it. The people will oust this government through strong agitation,” Mirza Fakhrul told journalists.

The BNP leader made the remark while talking to media after placing a wreath at the grave of BNP founder Late President Ziaur Rahman together with the leaders of the newly formed Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal committee.

Earlier on April 20 last, BNP announced a full-fledged 213-member committee of the party’s voluntary wing Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal SM Zilani made its president and Rajib Ahsan as the general secretary of the Swechchasebak Dal.

During the talking, Mirza Fakhrul dismissed all speculations about the party’s intention to take part in city polls.

He firmly said that their party would not participate the upcoming city corporations polls.

“It is our very clear decision that we are not going for any kind of local government polls. Especially in the city corporation elections, our party won’t vie for any post of mayor or councilors in the vote,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul said that Awami League wanted to establish a one-party Baksal rule by destroying democracy. The party did not believe in elections and democracy.

He alleged that the ruling party made the national election in 2014 a complete mockery by depriving people from their right to franchise votes.

“The 2018 polls also the same, they usurped power by stuffing ballots the night before the election day and people didn’t participate in that polls also,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

Even the people are not participating in the local government elections under this government.

“Only 14 per cent of people went to vote centres in the recent by held by-polls vote in Chattogram. So, it is clear that the people understand and the entire world understands that there will never be any fair election if this government remains in power,” the BNP leader said.
He said that people would also not participate in the next national polls if it is held under this government.
