Pabna Correspondent :

Police of Ishwardi Police Station in Pabna have recovered a double-barrel gun and six rounds of ammunition used in the murder of Biru Mollah, convener of the Lakshmikunda Union BNP in Ishwardi. The firearms and ammunition were recovered during a raid conducted on Wednesday night in Kamalpur village of Lakshmikunda Union.

Confirming the recovery, Additional Superintendent of Police (Ishwardi Circle) Pranab Kumar said that the recovered double-barrel gun was the weapon used to shoot and kill BNP leader Biru Mollah. While fleeing after the murder, the prime accused Jahurul Mollah left the firearm and ammunition in an abandoned tin shed at Abdul Karim’s house in Kamalpur village. Later, the police recovered the gun and ammunition, which were found wrapped in a red net.

He further stated that earlier, based on information obtained from the prime accused during interrogation after his arrest, a raid was conducted late Monday night in the western part of his owned No. 3 brick kiln in Sahapara Mouza of Lakshmikunda Union. During that operation, police recovered a one-shooter gun, a foreign revolver, five rounds of shotgun ammunition, and 26 rounds of revolver ammunition.

According to police, BNP leader Biru Mollah was killed by gunfire from rivals on 17 December in the southern Para Mollahpara area of Kamalpur village under Lakshmikunda Union, following a family dispute and a conflict over soil cutting for a brick kiln. In connection with the incident, a murder case was filed at Ishwardi Police Station on 18 December, naming the victim’s cousin Jahurul Mollah as the prime accused.
