‘BNP committed to implement laws based on Qur’an-Sunnah’
Staff Reporter:
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the party is committed to implementing laws based on the Qur’an and Sunnah. He stated, “We are 95 percent Muslim. We are committed that no law will be enacted outside the Qur’an and Sunnah.”
He made these remarks on Sunday at a views-exchange meeting with Islamic scholars at the Manab Kalyan Parishad premises in Salandar Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.
At the event, the BNP Secretary General said the country is passing through a critical period. “A small group of people is working from behind to create instability in the country. We must remain vigilant. We must not allow divisions to be created among ourselves. There are attempts to foil the election, and we must be careful so that they cannot succeed.”
Stating that this will be his last election, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “This election will be my last. I seek your cooperation. Begum Zia has been released after spending six years in prison.
She is ill and undergoing treatment in hospital-please pray for her.”
Among those present were district BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygam Ali, along with various religious scholars, religious figures, and local BNP leaders from the district.
