Dhaka Abahani Limited got their second win in the Bangladesh Football League (BFL). On Saturday, Fakirerpool Youngmens Club lost to Abahani by a margin of 5-0 at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj. Suleymane Diabaté scored two goals, while Morsalin, Mirajul, Al Amin scored one goal each for Abahani.
Abahani took a 3-0 lead in the first half of the match. Diabaté of Dhaka Abahani Limited scored the first goal in the 31st minute of the match. One of the achievements of this goal is Kazem Shah. His pass was skillfully finished by Malian forward Diabaté. Ten minutes later, Diabaté scored again. This time, he received a pass from inside the box and did not give Fakirerpool’s defender any chance, creating some space and sending the ball into the net. Mirajul scored after Diabat’s double. The shot from the top of the box beat Fakirerpool’s defense and goalkeeper.
Abahani scored two more goals in the second half. Morsalin scored in the 80th minute and Al Amin in the 85th minute. Abahani have moved up three places in the points table with yesterday’s win. Abahani are now in fourth place with 8 points from 6 matches. Fakirerpool are in ninth position with 5 points from the same matches.
The match between Bangladesh Police and PWD ended in a goalless draw. The home venue of both teams is Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. The venue for yesterday’s league match was there. However, the game was played at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital. Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Deputy Chairman of BFF League Committee, said about the reason for the venue change, “The scheduled venue for the match was Gazipur. There is preparatory work by the local administration on the occasion of the Victory Day ceremony on December 16. We requested that if necessary, the field be vacated early during the game. The district administration could not provide us with a field, so the venue has been changed.”
Neither team scored a goal in the match held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital. In this draw, Police have 7 points, equal to Mohammedan and Brothers, in 6 matches.
The venue for the Mohammedan and Kings match in the Federation Cup on Tuesday is Comilla. The district administration is organizing a programme in Cumilla on December 16 to mark Victory Day. Therefore, the league committee will organise the match at the National Stadium.
