Number of bidi workers on Wednesday staged a demonstration to protest the cops’ charge baton on their peaceful human chain program arranged ahead of the attention of Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) while returning Dhaka from Sirajganj.
They have expressed a deep concerned from a follow up human chain to protest the police attack on them on Tuesday organized at in front of Tangil Press Club in the morning.
 The demonstrators pointed their fingers to NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem as police attacked the workers in the human chain which arranged for drawing the NBR chief attention to reduce the tax on bidi industry in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2020-2021.
Tangail Bidi Sramik Federation President Nurtaj Miah and its General Secretary Fazlur Rahman, among others, spoke in the program.
Earlier on Tuesday, the workers arranged a human chain at Khudirampur by-pass area on Dhaka-Tangail Road as per plan to submit a memorandum with the demand of reducing the bidi tax to NBR chairman as he had a schedule to back Dhaka from Sirajganj district around 2:30pm.
