Bhangura marginal farmers get agri incentives

Small and marginal farmers in Bhangura upazila of Pabna have received agricultural incentives of Tk 74 lakh in the current rabi season. According to the Agriculture Office data, 2,300 farmers have received five kg of paddy seed, ten kg of DAP and ten kg of MOP fertilizer each in Boro plantation of Upshi variety this season. On the other hand, 4,500 farmers have received two kg of paddy seeds each under the hybridboro plantation. A total of Tk. 74 lakh have been spent on both the incentives.
Under this incentive scheme, farmer ArifHossain of Adabaria village of Dilpashar union of the upazila has cultivated hybrid variety and Rimon Sarkar of Satbaria village of Khanmarich union has planted Boro rice of Upshi variety, they said. Agriculture expert Susthir Kumar Sarkar said that although the farmers here are used to UpashiBoro cultivation, they are less familiar with hybrid rice. However, the expansion of hybrid plantations will increase food production.
