A court on Wednesday placed former Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs minister Anisul Huq on a five-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of garment worker Fazlul Karim during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahammed passed the order as police produced the former law minister before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand in the case lodged with the capital’s Uttara East Police Station, reports BSS.

Anisul Huq was arrested from the Sadarghat area as he along with Salman F Rahman was trying to flee the capital through the waterways on August 13.

On August 5, Fazlul Karim got shot as he was taking part in the anti-discrimination movement in the Uttara area. He was rushed to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital. Fazlul Karim later died from his injuries.
