In a message on its website it advised US citizens in Dhaka to maintain a high level of vigilance in public places including restaurants, hotels and other places frequented by foreigners. Until further notice, all official US officials are prohibited from attending large gatherings in Bangladesh. Earlier on Monday, the UK and Australia advised its citizens living in Bangladesh to remain vigilant in the wake of threat from terrorists. An Italian citizen, Cesare Tavella, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the capital’s Gulshan diplomatic zone on Monday evening.
