Bangladesh Thalassemia Society and Hospital is a non-profit voluntary organization formed and running by Thalassemia patients and their parents. Thalassemia is a fatal hereditary disease of anemia.

If both parents carry the gene for this disease, their child is likely to be born with thalassemia.

At present, about more than thousands of children in Bangladesh are suffering from this disease and every year 10-15 thousand children are born with this disease.

With regular blood transfusions and regular intake of some expensive medications, the patient can survive.

But for this one have to spend 8 to 20 thousand money per month beyond this disease.

One can know whether he is a carrier of this disease by HP electrophoresis test from Bangladesh Thalassemia Society by spending only a few amounts of money.

Only creating awareness among the mass people can prevent the birth of thalassemia affected children by stopping the marriage of a carrier with another carrier.
