Nationwide mosquito control campaign begins

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain launched a nationwide mosquito control and cleanliness campaign to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases on Saturday.

The Health Minister joined the programme after making a surprise visit to Singair Upazila Health Complex and the 50-bed hospital.

During the visit, the minister checked on patients, inquired about food quality and ensured that doctors were present on time.

He also expressed dissatisfaction after observing that the Upazila Health and Family Welfare Officer and two other doctors were not at their offices.

The minister said the government will take strict measures to eliminate corruption and the influence of brokers at hospitals.

“People should be able to receive their entitled services at government hospitals without any trouble. Strict measures will be taken to eliminate corruption and the influence of brokers in hospitals,” he said.

The government is taking various steps to ensure that people receive proper services at public hospitals without harassment and to make hospitals free from corruption and middlemen, he said.
