Relief Minister warns officials over office attendance
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has directed government officials to report to their offices on time, warning of strict disciplinary action against those who fail to comply.
“If any official fails to attend office at the scheduled time and complaints are received, strict departmental action will be taken,” he said, reports media.
The minister made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after a discussion meeting on the government’s 180-day action plan at Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Parishad on Friday.
He said the people of Bangladesh endorsed the BNP’s election manifesto and gave the party a strong mandate in parliament.
“We are committed to honouring that trust,” he said.
Dulu said the government has prioritised several initiatives outlined in the manifesto, including the introduction of family cards and farmer cards, canal excavation and the waiver of agricultural loans.
He said the review meeting was organised to assess the progress of the government’s first 180-day programme.
Commenting on the law and order situation in Lalmonirhat, the minister said the government aims to build a “progressive Lalmonirhat”.
He added that the administration has been instructed to take stronger action against social crimes such as drug abuse, online gambling and child marriage.
The minister also said he has personally invited the civil aviation and tourism minister to visit Lalmonirhat to explore the possibility of reopening the long-closed Lalmonirhat airport.
Earlier in the morning, Dulu made an unannounced visit to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
He expressed anger over the unhygienic condition of hospital wards and the surrounding premises and gave the authorities a six-hour ultimatum to clean the facility and restore proper conditions.
