REHAB raises DAP concerns
Leaders of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) on Wednesday met Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher to discuss key challenges and prospects in the country’s housing sector, including issues related to the Detailed Area Plan (DAP).
The meeting took place at the ministry, where a REHAB delegation led by its President Md. Wahiduzzaman paid a courtesy call on the minister.
During the discussion, REHAB leaders raised several ongoing concerns in the housing sector, particularly the impact of DAP implementation on real estate projects.
They noted that certain restrictions under the DAP have reduced the number of housing units that can be developed in new projects, which could affect the sector’s growth.
Minister Zakaria Taher listened to the concerns raised by the delegation and requested REHAB to submit a detailed written proposal outlining its recommendations.
REHAB President Wahiduzzaman said the association would soon prepare and submit a comprehensive proposal to the ministry aimed at addressing existing challenges and supporting the sector’s development.
REHAB leaders expressed hope that effective solutions could be achieved through close coordination between the government and industry stakeholders, helping make the country’s housing sector more dynamic.
The REHAB delegation included Senior Vice-President Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, First Vice-President MA Awal and Vice-President Engr Abdul Latif. Housing and Public Works Secretary Md Nazrul Islam, along with senior officials from the ministry and REHAB, were also present.
