Wife murdered by husband

Mijanur Rahman Beju has been accused of beating his wife, Nasima Begum, to death amid a family dispute and dumping her body in a toilet.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Ranningor Hotopara village, Monakasha Union, Shibganj Upazila, Chapainawabganj district.

Local residents apprehended Mijanur Rahman and handed him over to Shibganj Police Station. Neighbor Sohbul Hossain said that early on Wednesday, Monowara Begum went to the roof of Mijanur’s house to dry lentils.

She found all room doors locked and bloodstains in the courtyard, raising an alarm that drew a crowd. They discovered the body in a nearby toilet.

A visit to the scene revealed bloodstains in the bedroom, scattered clothes and bedding, a broken sickle blade, and a cricket bat stump indicating the body had been dragged from the room. Shibganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said police inspected the site upon receiving news.

The body was recovered and prepared for post-mortem at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. The husband has been arrested, and a case is being prepared.
