What Asif says about acquitted in foreign liquor seizure case

Singer Asif Akbar has finally been acquitted in an eight-year-long case. Expressing his feelings after the verdict, he said the charges were ‘founded on lies’ and he was satisfied that he had received justice after a long legal battle.

Judge Ayesha Akhter of Dhaka’s Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on Monday acquitted Asif Akbar in a case filed against him for possessing foreign liquor. She was present in the court when the verdict was announced.

In response to the verdict, Asif said, “Alhamdulillah, it was a false accusation. The sequence of the case was created in the month of Ramadan, and I received the verdict in the month of Ramadan. I’m satisfied, I’m happy.

I have been coming to court regularly for eight years. I did not try to exert any influence, I didn’t want to make a political issue.

I only wanted justice. I tried to fight. I fought my previous cases, and that is why I was acquitted.”
