ICT prosecutor Reza resigns

Saimum Reza Talukder has resigned as a prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, citing personal reasons. He confirmed the development on Monday afternoon.

“I applied for an exemption a few days ago. Today was my last working day. I basically decided to return to my previous profession,” Saimum Reza said.

The chief prosecutor has forwarded his resignation letter to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for necessary action.

Saimum Reza joined the reconstituted tribunal as a prosecutor on October 8, 2024, following the fall of the government amid the July 24 uprising.

During his tenure, he handled several cases related to alleged crimes against humanity in different parts of the country, including Rampura, Lakshmipur and Mymensingh.

Before joining the tribunal, he worked as a senior lecturer at Brac University.
