Women play a vital role in country’s development: Nayab Yusuf

Member of Parliament for Faridpur-3 constituency Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf said that women play a vital role in the development of the country and alongside men, women are contributing in various sectors and helping advance the nation’s progress.

He said that overall development of the country is not possible without the participation of women.

Therefore, their proper dignity and rights must be ensured, he added.

He made the remarks while speaking at a discussion meeting marking the International Women’s Day at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Faridpur on Sunday.

The event was organized by the Faridpur district administration and the Department of Women Affairs, with Deputy Commissioner Md Kamrul Hasan Mollah in the chair.

He further said that a group is still trying to obstruct women’s progress.

Various barriers are being created to keep women behind, he said, adding that these obstacles must be removed to ensure equal rights for men and women.

He also stressed the need for collective efforts to prevent violence and discrimination against women.

During the programme, he called for building Faridpur as a women-friendly district and emphasized ensuring women’s active participation in all spheres of society.

He also urged everyone to work together so that women can live with dignity and respect in society.

Earlier, MP Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf inaugurated the International Women’s Day programme by releasing balloons and festoons.

Among others, Faridpur Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Fatema Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr Mahmudul Hasan and others were present as special guests.
