State Minister for Land Barrister Kayser Kamal carried out an unannounced inspection of the Siddhirganj Union Land Office in Narayanganj on Wednesday morning and found the premises unattended during official working hours.

Arriving at approximately 9.10am, the minister observed that neither officers nor staff had reported for duty, although the office was scheduled to open at 9.00am. He expressed concern over what he described as a lack of punctuality and accountability.

After waiting for nearly 30 minutes, a staff member arrived to unlock the office, enabling the minister to enter. However, no officials were present inside at that time.

Speaking to reporters, Kamal said the office had been selected at random as part of a routine monitoring exercise.

“We are here to monitor staff attendance, review documents, assess service standards and identify any pending matters,” he said. “It is now 9.10am and no one has reported for duty, even though the office was supposed to open at 9.00am. This is unacceptable.”

Reiterating his position against corruption and negligence, the minister said that established rules and procedures would be strictly enforced and that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.

He added that similar unannounced inspections would continue across the country to ensure that citizens receive public services in a timely and efficient manner.

Mr Kamal is currently overseeing inspections in Narayanganj as part of an ongoing nationwide review of land administration offices.
