Bangladesh ‘A’ become runners-up

Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team became runners-up in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars as they lost to India ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team by 46 runs in the final at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Sunday.

By virtue of yesterday’s victory, India emerged the champions in the meet.

Electing to bat first, India women piled up a fighting total of 134 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then all out Bangladesh for 88 off 19.1 overs.

Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Ishma Tanjim (3) was dismissed by Saima Thakor when Bangladesh’s score was just 12.

After Ishma’s dismissal, Shamima Sultana and Sharmin Sultana put on together 25 runs in the second wicket stand before Shamima Sultana was dismissed by Prema Rawat when Bangladesh’s total was 37 for the loss of two wickets.

Shamima Sultana hit a notable 20. Her 15-ball innings had three fours.

After Shamima’s departure, Sharmin Sultana could not stay at the crease for a long period as she was dismissed by Radha Yadav when Bangladesh’s score was 47 for the loss of three wickets.

Sharmin Sultana made 18 from 30 deliveries featuring one four. After Sharmin’s dismissal, Bangladeshi batters failed to build any notable partnership.

Fahima Khatun scored 14 from 11 balls including one four. Sadia Akter added 10 runs to the Bangladesh total.

Prema Rawat grabbed three wickets instead of 12 runs, while TP Kanwar and Sonia Mendhiya bagged two wickets each giving 11 and 21 runs respectively.

Saima Thakor and Radha Yadav and Minnu Mani took one wicket each for 11, 16 and 17 runs respectively. Later, Mandini Kashyap and Vrinda Dinesh put up together 30 runs in the opening stand before Vrinda Dinesh was bowled out by Fatema Jahan Sonia.

Vrinda Dinesh made 19 from 17 deliveries with four fours.

India lost their four wickets for 44 runs. Fahima Khatun restored some parity for her team. She captured four wickets in the space of 25 runs.

Then, Tejal Hasabnis and Radha Yadav rescued their team from debacle scoring together 69 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Radha Yadav was dismissed by Fahima Khatun when India’s score was 113 for the loss of five wickets.

Teajal Hasabnis remained unbeaten with 51. Her 34-ball innings was studded with three fours and two sixes. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her outstanding innings.

Radha Yadav hit a captain’s knock of 36. Her 30-ball innings was belted with three fours and a sixer.

Fatema Jahan Sonia and Farjana Easmin got one wicket each conceding 19 and 30 runs respectively.
