CPA launches ‘Port Single Window’
Business Desk :
Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) launched the “Port Single Window” (CPA Sky), marking a milestone toward a paperless and smart port management system this week.
Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman officially launched the initiative on Tuesday, where Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and IT Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb virtually attended as the chief guest.
The port officials said implementation of the system will increase the overall efficiency of the port operations by three to five times, acting as a catalyst for national economy and international trade.
With the unified platform, the users can access all services through a single and secure login while integration of digital radar and automated vessel tracker will help track ships real-time.
Other key features include facilities for all approvals and cargo clearances, and seamless data sharing with National Board of Revenue (NBR), banks and other relevant government agencies.
The digital transformation is set to reduce manual labour, minimise delays, and elevate the port to international standards of efficiency, they said.
After the inauguration, the CPA chairman briefed journalists about the new system at the CPA Building.
He said the new system will reduce delivery and vessel turnaround time significantly.
It will also ensure accountability and people will get benefit of it for next 50 to 100 years, the chairman added.
