Rotterdam felt like festival was ours: Badhon

Entertainment Report :

Bangladesh triumphed at the prestigious Rotterdam Film Festival in the Netherlands.
The film ‘Master’ directed by Rezwan Shahriar Sumit won the ‘Big Screen Award’ for the Best Film at this festival.

The film’s director Sumit, along with actors Azmeri Haque Badhon, Zakia Bari Mamo and Nasir Uddin Khan, were present there from the beginning of the festival.

Actress Badhon recently shared her Rotterdam experience in an interview with a media outlet.

Describing the moment of receiving the award, Badhon said, “That feeling is actually indescribable.

We went very casually; we thought everyone else would get the award and we would applaud. When that applause was for Bangladesh, it was very happy.”

Paying tribute to the director, he further said, “Rezwan Shahriar Sumit is a very honest director. Today, his honesty is reflected in this achievement.”

Impressed by the love of the expatriates, Badhon said that despite being a working day, Bangladeshis living in the Netherlands came to the theaters to watch the movie.

In addition, the interest and appreciation of the local Dutch audience for watching the movie overwhelmed the actress.

Three Bangladeshi films have been screened at this year’s Rotterdam Festival.

Regarding this growing success, Badhon said, “Bangladeshi cinema is reaching a strong place.

Starting from Rehana, all the films that have gone to international film festivals are enriching Bangladeshi cinema.

And it is a matter of great honour that this time there were three Bangladeshi films in Rotterdam. It feels like the festival is ours.

At the same time, three teams of us have come to the Netherlands. We are meeting everyone, talking about films.”
