AKIJ launches consumer electronics brand Orca

AKIJ Resource, one of the country’s leading business conglomerates, has entered the consumer electronics segment with the launch of its new brand, Orca, under AKIJ Consumer Electronics Limited.
Marking the expansion, the first Orca outlet was inaugurated on Kemal Ataturk Avenue in Dhaka on Thursday.
Initially, the venture will focus on outlet based retailing of electronic products from leading global brands.
The group, however, plans to manufacture and market electronic products in Bangladesh under the Orca brand in the future.
Orca aims to position itself as a complete home appliance and office solution, offering a wide range of products, including refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, televisions, washing machines, and ovens.
The outlets will also retail products from international brands such as Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Haier, Whirlpool, Panasonic, and Philips.
By 2026, AKIJ Consumer Electronics plans to open at least 25 outlets across major cities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Mymensingh. The company has set a target of establishing 100 showrooms nationwide by 2028.
Speaking at the inauguration, Md Abu Tariq Zia Chowdhury, Chief Business Officer, AKIJ Consumer Electronics Limited, said AKIJ Resource has long operated successfully across multiple sectors and enjoys a strong base of customers and well wishers.
He stated that the new initiative aims to deliver improved service standards and quality products to consumers.
“Currently, product availability is not the main challenge; after sales service is,” he said. “This will be the key difference between Orca and other players.
We are committed to ensuring the highest standard of after sales service, and any customer complaint will be resolved within 24 hours.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shahriar Istiaq Halim, Cluster CEO, AKIJ Resource; Mohammad Towfique Hasan, Chief Business Development Officer; Ashfaque Hossain Chowdhury, Cluster CFO; Mohammed Afsar Uddin, Chief People Officer; Khondaker Mostakim Ahmed Fahim, Chief Supply Chain Officer; Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Deputy Chief Operating Officer; along with senior officials from various business units of AKIJ Resource.
