‘Pressure Cooker’ A story of 3 women

Raihan Rafi is one of the most talked-about filmmakers of this time. He is now set to direct a female-centric film titled ‘Pressure Cooker’. The biggest attraction of the project is that, for the first time, three actresses- Shobnom Bubly, Nazifa Tushi, and Mariya Shanto-will be seen together on screen. Snigdha Chowdhury is also part of the cast.

The success of Shobnom Bubly and Nazifa Tushi in cinema is well known. For Mariya Shanto, this will be her debut film. In her four-and-a-half-year career, the model-turned-actress initially worked with several fashion houses and appeared in around 20 TV commercials.

She began acting in television dramas in mid-2023.
The title ‘Pressure Cooker’ itself suggests that the film is not merely about cooking elements; rather, it will be presented as a symbolic metaphor. The film will portray women’s life struggles, societal pressure, relationship conflicts, and the explosion of unspoken emotions accumulated deep inside. All of these will be reflected metaphorically through the concept of a “Pressure Cooker.”

A member of the film’s team, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the story will bring together the lives of three women from different social classes and with different mindsets into a single frame. Each of them carries her own conflicts, sacrifices, family problems, and a longing for freedom.

Shooting of ‘Pressure Cooker’ has already begun in Dhaka. Nazifa Tushi and Mariya Shanto have been regularly participating in the shoot from the beginning, while Shobnom Bubly joined the shooting from January 5.

Meanwhile, there is considerable discussion surrounding an important male character in the film. Industry sources suggest that either Zahid Hasan or Chanchal Chowdhury may be seen in this role, though no confirmation has been made yet.
