A female police officer, Raziya Sultana (28) was found dead at her rented residence in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area on Thursday night, with police suspecting suicide following a domestic dispute.
The deceased was identified as the daughter of Nasir Uddin Bachchu of Nayabari village under Uzirpur upazila in Barishal district.

According to police, a disagreement broke out between the couple on Thursday evening after Raziya damaged her mobile phone. The matter led to a brief argument, after which she reportedly hanged herself inside a room between 9:20 PM and 9:40 PM.
Later, her husband got her and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Dakshinkhan Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Palash Ahmed confirmed the incident and said that the body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy.
