The three-day Global Sourcing Expo 2025 Dhaka, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, concluded on Wednesday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (Big Wave) in Purbachal, on the outskirts of the capital.

Mohammad Hassan Arif, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), presided over the closing ceremony, while Baby Rani Karmakar, Director General of EPB, delivered the welcome address.

Guests of Honour included Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Executive Vice-President of BKMEA; Selim H. Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Furniture Owners Association; and Shamim Ahmed, President of BPGMEA.

Guests appreciated the government initiative to host an international sourcing expo in the country to attract the global buyers.

They also advised continuing the expo and expressed their support for that.
In his speech, the EPB Vice Chairman said that, due to a very short preparation period, this year’s sourcing expo had several limitations. He added that EPB plans to organise such world-class sourcing expos on a regular basis in the future.

He thanked all the participating organisations and companies for their cooperation.
This year, a total of 125 companies participated across 165 stalls. More than 100 international buyers from 14 countries held meetings with local firms and visited their stalls and factories.
Over the three days, six seminars were organised on different sectors and thematic issues, and 238 B2B meetings were held.

The EPB officials said participating companies received confirmed orders worth US$311,000, while proposals amounting to US$372,000 are currently under consideration.
At the closing ceremony, awards were presented to the best-performing companies in eight categories.

The winners were PRAN-RFL Group in agriculture and agro-processing; Shishu Paribahan in apparel; HATIL in furniture and home décor; Digi Infotech in IT and IT services; Planet Care in jute and jute goods; LFM EAB in leather and leather products; Radiant in pharmaceuticals; and Bengal Plastic in plastic and kitchenware.

The Financial Express was the media partner of the expo.
