Tri-Nation football series: ‘We will give the people good games’

Bangladesh will play in the Women’s Asian Cup Football in March 2026. Before that, Afeeda-Rupnara want to prepare them accordingly. Azerbaijan, Malaysia and Bangladesh Tri-Nation football series starts from Wednesday.

Bangladesh will open their campaign against Malaysia on November 26 at the National Stadium before facing Azerbaijan on December 2. Azerbaijan, meanwhile, will play their opener against Malaysia on November 29.

Bangladesh is ranked 104th and Malaysia is ranked 92nd in the FIFA rankings. Azerbaijan is ranked 74th.

Bangladesh and Malaysia will face off at 7 pm. Bangladesh captain Afeida Khandaker has promised to give a good performance in the series.

“We will definitely try to play well against Azerbaijan and Malaysia as the coaches have asked me to play. We practiced in the morning.The coach has told us how to play. Insha’Allah, we will do something good. We will give the people of Bangladesh a good game.” She said at a press conference on Tuesday,

“We have clearly qualified for the U-20s. After that, we have also qualified for the Asian Cup in the senior team. Of course, there will be mistakes. We will learn from our mistakes and play in a way that will not happen in the next match.”

Regarding the opponent, the captain said, “No matter what team they bring, they are definitely ahead in the rankings. We will try to win by playing our best.”

In late October, Bangladesh played two friendlies against Thailand, suffering 3-0 and 5-1 defeats. Butler, unhappy with his players’ fitness levels at the time, has since spent three weeks in Chittagong addressing the team’s weaknesses.
