Dengue claims 3 lives

Three more people have died of dengue in the 24 hours still Sunday morning, pushing this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 135, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities were recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Chattogram Division (outside city corporation areas), and Mymensingh Division.
Within the same period, 580 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue fever, raising the total number of reported cases this year to 34,411.
DGHS data shows new infections were distributed as follows: 128 in Barishal Division (outside city corporation), 94 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporation), 85 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporation), 85 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 80 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 32 in Khulna Division (outside city corporation), 55 in Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation), 17 in Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation), three in Rangpur Division, and one in Sylhet Division (outside city corporation).
Currently, 1,571 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue caused 575 deaths, while DGHS recorded 101,214 infections and 100,040 recoveries.
