A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former Prime Minister’s adviser Salman F Rahman and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on three-day remand each, and former Law Minister Anisul Huq on a two-day remand, in connection with three separate murder cases.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jamshed Alam passed the order after hearing separate petitions submitted by the investigating officers.
According to court sources, investigators sought a five-day remand for Salman F Rahman in connection with the Monir Hossain murder case filed with Bhatara Police Station. They also requested a three-day remand for Anisul Huq in the Abdul Jabbar murder case filed with Badda Police Station, and a seven-day remand for former IGP Abdullah in the Russel murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk represented the prosecution during the remand hearing.
Additionally, the court ordered all three—Salman, Anisul, and Abdullah—to be shown arrested in a new case filed with Kadamtoli Police Station.
In a related development, five others, including former Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, were also shown arrested in the same Kadamtoli case.
