Eid Salaries, Incentives: MPO teachers get relieved

Staff Reporter :

More than 350,000 teachers and employees from MPO-registered schools and colleges were able to withdraw their salaries and bonuses before Eid. Only a day ago, they were in extreme uncertainty regarding the timely disbursement of their February salaries and bonuses before Eid.

Teachers and employees began collecting their February salaries and Eid allowances from state-owned banks, including Sonali, Janata, Agrani, and Rupali, from 10 am on Friday. They were given just two hours to make their withdrawals.

While many teachers have expressed relief at receiving their payments before Eid, some have complained that they did not receive notifications confirming the crediting of their salaries to their accounts. There are also concerns regarding the disbursement of salaries for March, with many teachers questioning when they will receive their pay for the current month.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) began processing salary payments via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) at 5 pm on Thursday. The Secondary and Higher Education Division issued an official order (GO) to ensure the disbursement of February salaries and Eid bonuses for MPO-listed staff.

According to the directive, the four state-owned banks were required to remain open until 4 pm on Thursday and for limited hours on Friday to facilitate these transactions.

To ensure the smooth disbursement of salaries and bonuses, the Ministry of Education sent a letter to the secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, requesting that Sonali, Janata, Agrani, and Rupali banks remain open for transactions.

Meanwhile, all government, semi-government, autonomous, and self-governing institutions, including educational institutions, were closed on Thursday.
