Jamaat-e-Islami plans to field candidates in all 300 constituencies in the upcoming national election. This announcement was made by Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand, central executive council member and media secretary of Jamaat, during an oath-taking and membership (Rukon) conference for the district’s amir in Kishoreganj on Friday morning.
Akand emphasized that Jamaat will engage actively at all levels, aiming to reach out to people from diverse communities, including Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, and both political and non-political entities. He noted, “The question of alliances doesn’t concern us now. If a coalition benefits the Islamic movement, we may consider it; otherwise, we will continue independently. Jamaat will not compromise its ideals for temporary gains.”
Referring to Jamaat’s stance on international relations, Akand stated, “Our focus will be on the 180 million people of Bangladesh, not on foreign influences. We will prioritize economic interests, partnering with countries that offer the best trade opportunities, regardless of their political alignment.”
The event was chaired by Professor Md. Ramzan Ali, the district’s Jamaat amir, and moderated by Secretary Maulana Nazmul Islam. Other notable speakers included regional team member Maulana Enamul Haque, former district amir Maulana Taiyabuzzaman, and deputy amir Principal Maulana Azizul Haque.
Around 600 male and female members attended the conference, marking the election of the district’s Shura members and the oath-taking ceremony for the district leadership.
