Another case has been lodged against ex-Youth and Sports Minister, also former president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hasan Papon in Bhairab of Kishoreganj, as the prime accused. In the case, about 93 Awami League leaders and activists have been named and 150 others have been accused.
On Thursday night, a local BNP leader named Rubel Mia filed the case as a plaintiff at Bhairab model police station. He is the son of Md. Moti Mia in Bhairabpur of Bhairab port town.
The Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhairab model police station, Md. Safiqul Islam confirmed the filing of the case and stated those involved.
In the statement of the case, sources said that during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 19, the accused threw bullets, cocktails and petrol bombs at the students with the intention of killing them. Several people were injured and a case has been filed on charges of breaking into BNP party temporary office in Bhairab, vandalism and theft of valuables. Two cases have been filed against Awami League leaders and activists including former Minister Nazmul Hasan Papon.
Earlier, a case was filed against 140 people including Nazmul Hasan Papon on the charge of vandalizing the office of BNP in Bhairab on Tuesday. A person named Alam Sarkar filed the case as plaintiff in Bhairab police station. He is a resident of Kamalpur area of the municipality and a local BNP activist.
