The army in a drive seized 69 sacks of OMS rice from a store house at Newtown in the town on Thursday night at 10 pm.
It is known that Kishoreganj’s Barabazar businessman Jewel Miah has been marketing government rice illegally stored in his godown at Newtown area of different companies in sealed sacks.
At that time, OMS dealer Jewel Mia claimed to have purchased the rice kept in the godown, but as she could not provide proper proof, the rice was seized and the godown was sealed.
On secret information, the army conducted the operation led by Sadar UNO, also Executive Magistrate Abu Rasel.
