Joint General Secretary of Awami League and former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has been detained.

Police detained her from the city’s Baridhara area on Monday (August 19) evening.

Media and Public Relations Division of DMP confirmed the matter to the media on Monday evening.

A senior officer of the DB conducted the operation to arrest Dr Dipu Moni on Monday evening.

He said, Dipu Moni will be taken to the DB office at Minto Road tonight (Yesterday).

According to DMP sources, Dipu Moni has been arrested in a case filed in Chandpur. There are more cases against her.

Earlier in 2008, Dipu Moni was elected Member of Parliament for Chandpur-3 Constituency.

She was the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh from 2009 to 2013. From 2019 until the beginning of this year, she was the Minister of Education.
